My Story

HI! My name is Christina. I am 26, am married to a wonderful supportive husband and have a beautiful 1 and a half year old daughter. I have a full and vibrant life with a strong belief in G-d, a wonderful congregation, and many awesome friends. I had a great childhood, albiet I grew up in a single parent family and didn't have alot of money, but it was a happy childhood. Yet, amidst all of this happiness and well being I know that I am not as healthy as I should be. I desire so deeply to become healthy so that I will be around for a long time and be able to do all the things that my daughter might want to do. I admit, I do want to become skinny so that I will look super hot but this is not my primary goal. So, thats why I created this blog. I felt like I needed a marker to go by...to see my progress.
I started gaining weight in the 3rd grade and by the age of 11 was already in a size 12/14. Between the ages of 12 and 15 I fluctuated between a 14 and 16. By the age of 16 I was a size 16 pushing into a size 18. I went back and forth losing weight and gaining it. I tried weight watchers, slim fast, counting calories, diet pills, counting fat calories, excessive exercise, the Zone diet, and for 1 week I even started binging and purging. I remember taking some diet pill that is currently off the market. I lost 10 pounds within a few days but was dizzy and had a ton of bruises. I had some luck with Weight Watchers, but hated the way I was treated by the leader so quit after just a couple of weeks. By the time I went to college I was between a size 18 and 20. In college, I gained way more than the freshman 15. I jumped up to a size 22/24. I lost some and got down to an 18 but then started dating my husband and quit trying to lose weight. I maintained my size 18 for awhile but as soon as we got engaged the weight skyrocketed. I was about a 22 when we got married and within a couple of months got up to a size 24. My highest weight was 265. I started losing a little by doing a combination of the Special K diet, slimfast, and counting calories. I included a little bit of exercise too. In 2006 I joined weight watchers. I only went to a couple of meetings due to finances but bought all the materials. A few friends at work were doing the program so this was my motivation. In April of 2007 I got all the way down to 190 pounds, a size 14. I was doing great! And then I got pregnant! I was so excited but unfotunatly gained a ton of weight. On the day I had my daughter I weighed in at 273 pounds...Yikes! For a while I did weight watchers because of their breastfeeding program. I lost maybe 20 pounds in 1 year. I got really sick of weight watchers and switched to counting calories this year. I am currently doing the flat belly diet and had gotten down to 223 but after my husband and I went to Denver for a weekend last month I kind of fell off the bandwagon. I gained ten pounds but am determined to get back on track. I am still trying the Flat Belly Diet. You eat 4 400 calorie meals each with a MUFA. I am also trying to eat as much non-processed foods. I buy all-natural and organic when I can and have been decreasing my meat intake. I choose things like tofu and nuts instead of meat but still have meat a couple of times a a week. I was exercising alot for awhile. I have a jogging stroller and plenty of dvds. Time to pick it back up. I can't commit to blogging every day...or even every week...but hopefully will log in at least once a month.
